  The residents of the Sri Saradha Devi Illam Welfare Association, Malaysia have celebrated the pongal festival with great enthusiasm at our association. This festival is dedicated to the sun god, Surya Bhagawan, and corresponds to Makar Sankranti, the harvest festival under many regional names celebrated throughout India. The three days of the Pongal festival are called Surya Pongal, and Mattu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal.

MALAYSIA DAY 2019 CELEBRATION AT SRI SARADHA DEVI ASHRAM

In conjuction with Malaysia Day on 16th September, Sri Saradha Devi Ashram organised a celebration to show our love towards our country. 
We had shooting of Malaysia Day video being done with our children performing traditional dances i.e. bharathanatyam and dikir barat as well as traditional martial arts Silambam. This is to show the diversity of culture that we have in Malaysia. Besides, we also had our children portraying the opportunity and growth the country has given them through their education, technology development and skills enhancement.
 
The video ends with all children and members thanking our beloved country, Malaysia. This event was organised in order to instill the love for the country in our children and to teach them to appreciate all the opportunity given to them.
