  The residents of the Sri Saradha Devi Illam Welfare Association, Malaysia have celebrated the pongal festival with great enthusiasm at our association. This festival is dedicated to the sun god, Surya Bhagawan, and corresponds to Makar Sankranti, the harvest festival under many regional names celebrated throughout India. The three days of the Pongal festival are called Surya Pongal, and Mattu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal.

Thread Jewellery Making Class

On 2 February 2019, a "thread jewellery" making class was organised for the children of Sri Saradha Devi Ashram. The class was conducted by Ms Dasheila, who is a professional in making jewelries.

Children and volunteers were taught on various methods of creating jewelries from thread. It was truly a wonderful class as we are able to put our efforts and skills into practice. This art requires a great amount of patience. Though it takes some time to create, the satisfaction of viewing our own beautiful piece of creation makes it all worthwhile☺!
