  The residents of the Sri Saradha Devi Illam Welfare Association, Malaysia have celebrated the pongal festival with great enthusiasm at our association. This festival is dedicated to the sun god, Surya Bhagawan, and corresponds to Makar Sankranti, the harvest festival under many regional names celebrated throughout India. The three days of the Pongal festival are called Surya Pongal, and Mattu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal.

It was indeed a very proud moment for Sri Saradha Devi Ashram today. 4 of our children from SMK Tun Perak Rawang  bagged 10 medals back home in conjuction with their School Sports Day!

They are Kanages (2 gold medals), Kavipriya (1 silver and 2 gold medals), Arunthatni (4 gold medals) and Kanagavalli (1 silver medal). The medals were won for the relay event i.e. 100 meter, 400 meter, 800 meter, 4×100, 4×400 and 1500 meter relays respectively.

Sri Saradha Devi Ashram is truly proud of their victory and  would like to wish them more successes to come in the future.
