  The residents of the Sri Saradha Devi Illam Welfare Association, Malaysia have celebrated the pongal festival with great enthusiasm at our association. This festival is dedicated to the sun god, Surya Bhagawan, and corresponds to Makar Sankranti, the harvest festival under many regional names celebrated throughout India. The three days of the Pongal festival are called Surya Pongal, and Mattu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal.

"JOM SHOPPING" Program by Sri Saradha Devi Ashram

It was a joyful day for all the children of Sri Saradha Devi Ashram on 23 August 2018 as they were taken for a shopping spree to Central Market, Kuala Lumpur by the Management and volunteers of the association. It was part of the school holiday program known as "Jom Shopping". Children were allowed to purchase any items of their choice using the amount allocated to each of them, accompanied by volunteers. 

In the evening, all children were taken to Kuil Sri Mahamariamman for a short prayers prior to a dinner session at a stall in Brickfields. Both the children and volunteers of Sri Saradha Devi Ashram were very delighted with the shopping spree outing.
