  The residents of the Sri Saradha Devi Illam Welfare Association, Malaysia have celebrated the pongal festival with great enthusiasm at our association. This festival is dedicated to the sun god, Surya Bhagawan, and corresponds to Makar Sankranti, the harvest festival under many regional names celebrated throughout India. The three days of the Pongal festival are called Surya Pongal, and Mattu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal.

Motivational Speech by Dr Kumaran Adakalam at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Rawang

In conjunction with the National Day on 31 August, Dr Kumaran Adakalam, the president of Sri Saradha Devi Ashram was cordially invited to deliver a motivational speech to all students of SJK (T) Rawang. 
The speech covered a wide range of areas such as importance of education among students, hardwork, striving for excellence and also importance of spirituality among students. Dr Kumaran emphasized that spirituality is very important in strengthening the mind concentration of students.

The speech ended with Dr Kumaran presenting all students with a pendant of Sri Bala Tripurasundari.
